Welcome Message

On behalf of Indian Sleep Disorders Association, it is our pleasure to invite you for the International Conference on Sleep Disorders to be held in Chennai, India from April 10 -12, 2020. This year’s conference is extra special as it marks the 25th Anniversary of the Indian Sleep Disorders Association.

There is increasing focus on detection and management of Non-communicable diseases (NCD) to prevent long term problems. Most healthcare practitioners think of Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity, Heart Diseases and Stroke and often forget Sleep Disorders which is more common and can lead to all of these. Let’s remember that Sleep Disorders contribute significantly to NCDs and there is a growing concern on its impact on comorbidities. We sincerely hope that the World Health Organization (WHO) would recognize Sleep disorders in the list of NCDs. The theme for our conference is in keeping with this issue “Sleep Disorder: A Noncommunicable Disease (NCD) not to be forgotten”

Our program is designed for all healthcare professionals as each one of us encounters patients with sleep problems and/or their related comorbidities. We are confident that the program is truly multidisciplinary and would appeal to general practitioners, Internists, Pulmonologists & Chest Medicine specialists, Neurologists, Psychiatrists, ENT specialists, Bariatric Surgeons, Pediatricians, Ophthalmologists, Psychologists, Physiologists & other basic scientists.

Focused workshops on ‘Pediatric Sleep Medicine”, “Dental Sleep Medicine”, “Sleep Disordered Breathing” and “Polysomnography” will be conducted and would offer hands on interactive experience. Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Sleep Technicians would benefit from attending the workshops on Polysomnography and also the Scientific sessions.

We are proud to have a long list of reputed International and National faculty who have contributed their valuable time to enrich the conference. A great deal of attention and time has been spent in designing the scientific program with intellectually challenging sessions. In addition to Key note address by a thought leader, Oration, Plenary sessions, Pro-Con debates & panel discussions we will also have dedicated sessions for presentation of original research, difficult cases and a Sleep Medicine Quiz. We are also planning to introduce ‘Food for thought’ sessions during lunch focusing on ‘How to establish a sleep lab’. We are confident that the participants would experience a great networking opportunity in addition to enriching their knowledge in Sleep Medicine.

Chennai (Formerly known as Madras) is the fourth largest city in India and capital of ‘Enchanting Tamilnadu’. Often branded as a ‘culturally rich and conservative’ metropolis, the city prides itself of the second longest sandy beach in the world and has several temples & churches which are architectural marvels, tourist attractions and offers a great shopping experience. The venue of our program is the luxurious Taj Coromandel, one of Chennai’s best known landmarks, presents a rich fusion of South Indian design and classic elegance. We take this opportunity to once again invite all of you and thank our faculty, sponsors and delegates without whom this conference cannot be a memorable one. Looking forward to seeing you all in Chennai.
